Notes to self

note 012

“Sometimes closure is just realising you already have enough information.”

I wanted a conversation that would explain it. Something that made the ending make sense in a way I could repeat to people. What I actually had was months of behaviour that had already answered the question, and a hope that someone would come back and say it more kindly.

Closure gets described as something another person hands you. In practice it is more often the moment you stop treating the file as open. Nothing new arrives. You just stop expecting it to, and that expectation turns out to have been the thing keeping it going.
